Home with the Kiddies

So. Home with the kids for a little while? Could get interesting.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing with you some fun tips, activities and helpful little resources that our team of mums are finding useful for entertaining the kids. Let’s get you started with these little nuggets….

Storytime

Childrens author and illustrator Benji Davies reads his popular books with charming commentary from his daughter Esther. Head to his Instagram feed to catch up or you can subscribe to his YT channel. He’ll be adding more reads throughout the school closure.

Elsie loves The Storm Whale and it’s lovely to see it read by the author, mostly she can’t stop watching Esther though.” Heather, our HR Manager

Cosmic Kids Yoga

Yoga, stories and fun. Keep the kids exercised and entertained with over 100 yoga sessions based on popular kids stories. From 3 Little Pigs to Moana to Star Wars, all ages are catered for!

It melts my heart watching my 5 year old daughter do this with her little 2 year old sister right next to her  trying to keep up. She needs lots of exercise so it’s proving popular in our house.” Sarona, our Marketing Manager

The Maths Factor

Smashing games that develop maths skills from ages 4-12. Carol Vorderman’s educational site is offering free access during the school closures!

It’s always satisfying when a game entertains the kids and you know they’re learning at the same time. Can’t lie – I’ve found myself playing them too!” Rachael, our Head of Digital

Twinkl

A massive bank of activities designed to help your child learn. All the way from early years to 11, it’s curated by teachers and they’ve created special packs and live lessons to get us through the school closures…all for free!

I’ve got three kids at home at the moment and they’re very different ages so having one resource with a little something for all of them is proving really useful and saves a lot of time.” Catherine, our Chief Innovation Officer

Headspace

Let’s face it, we’re all going to need some down time. Mindfulness can help kids cope with periods of change. Try this app that features short guided meditations for children under 5. You can get a free 2 week trial today!

My daughter Martha seems to find a little bit of mindfulness really calming. Great that this app really guides the kids and the adults too and teaches skills that can last a lifetime.” Emma, our Innovation Manager

Hope you find these suggestions helpful, check in for more tips and activities next week!
