Dry hands? We might just have the best hand cream to fix them

Dry hands? We might just have the best hand cream to fix them

We're all washing our hands quite a lot at the moment, and for good reason. But if you're anything like the rest of the Mum & You team then for the last few weeks you've been left with dry skin on your hands that's more than a little cracked and feeling pretty sore. Join us as we explore exactly why this is and how our Anytime Anywhere Hand Cream is perfect for treating it.

When we developed our Anytime Anywhere Hand Cream we knew from experience that new mums tend to wash their hands a lot more than normal as well as dipping them into hot soapy water and sterilizer solution for bottles. So sore, dry hands is a common complaint when you have a baby in the house. We set out to create the best hand cream for dry hands, something that would protect them from the extra washing. We're really proud to say we think we pretty much nailed it and here's some of the interesting stuff we learned in the process...

Why does hand washing dry out your skin?

The alcohol and detergents in handwashes and sanitisers not only kill the germs, they also strip oils and fluids from the skin. Those oils protect the skin and keep it supple and moist. When this protective layer is compromised your skin can become sore, dry and cracked. To remedy it you need to nourish your hands with cream that contains the right ingredients to replenish your skin's lost properties.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is a super-hydrator, it will penetrate the skin really deeply and has anti-inflammatory properties meaning it will soothe and calm irritated skin. It's a fantastic base for a hand cream and will really plumping and softening your skin.

Cocoa Seed Butter

This ingredient contains lots of fatty acids which are not only great at hydrating your skin but also help to form a protective barrier to lock moisture in. Perfect for helping cracked skin heal.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant that can play a role in cellular restoration and fighting off free radicals that can damage the skin on your hands. In other words it will help cells heal and keeps them looking and feeling soft and youthful. Sounds like a winner to us!

Treating your hands

So these are the key ingredients of our Anytime Anywhere Hand Cream, but it's not just about the cream, it's also about how you use it. If you're washing your hands many times a day, as we all are now, then you certainly want to apply the cream to clean, dry hands a few times during the day. But you should also consider a generous helping before bed, when hands will really get the opportunity to drink it in. Doing this every night, right before going to sleep should mean that you're left with the softest of hands so that you can get on with your day in comfort without compromising on the hand washing. Wave goodbye to dry, cracked hands for good!

Anytime Anywhere Hand Cream is currently on offer for just £2 a tube (reduced from £8.99) when purchased with any other Mum & You item. Shop now.

Good luck and happy hands xx
