How to keep your baby's room cool during hot weather

We're so happy that the weather is improving! But we must remember that as summer approaches, hot weather can make it challenging to keep your baby comfortable, especially during naptime and bedtime. Babies are more sensitive to temperature changes so gere are all the tips on how to keep your baby's room cool during hot weather

Air circulation

It might be time to bring the fans out! Fans promote air circulation in the baby's room. Position a fan in a safe location to avoid blowing directly on your little one. This will help create a gentle breeze and prevent overheating.

Window Coverings

Close curtains or blinds during the hottest parts of the day (11am-3pm) to block out direct sunlight. Consider using blackout curtains or thermal blinds to reduce heat absorption and maintain a cooler temperature.

Air conditioning

If you have an air conditioner, make use of it! Set the temperature between 16-20°C for a comfortable environment. If you need more info on safe sleeping check out the Lullaby Trust. Ensure the baby's crib is placed away from direct airflow.

Cross-Ventilation

Open windows on opposite sides of the room to encourage cross-ventilation. This allows fresh air to flow through, cooling down the space.

Dehumidifier

High humidity can make the room feel hotter. Consider using a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture from the air, creating a more comfortable atmosphere for your little one.

Clothing

If it's too hot, it might be time to let your little one stay in nappies! Our Mum & You Eco Nappies are perfect as they're gentle on baby's bottom with super soft plant-based material. No nasty chemicals, perfume, lotion or latex. Choose light blankets or swaddles for sleep, adjusting the layers as needed to avoid overheating.

Bath

Give your little one a bath before bed with lukewarm water to cool them down and wash away all the sun cream and lollies!

Finally, don't forget to keep your Mum & You Plastic Free Baby Wipes away from the sun!

And that's it for now! The weather shouldn't be overly hot for a couple more weeks but it's always better to be prepared beforehand.
