10 of our Favourite Mum Owned Brands

10 of our Favourite Mum Owned Brands

At Mum & You, we love mum and family-owned businesses.

We ourselves were founded by a mum and dad duo, and we know exactly what it takes to make great things happen when you’ve got a bouncing baby attached to your hip. Powered by a team of talented mums (and some dads!) we offer products and quality that we felt were missing from our lives as busy mums. From super-soft Eco Nappies to our luxurious Mum’s Skincare range, these products were created by mums for mums.

This Mum & More month, we want to share our favourite mum and family-owned business, showcasing a variety of products including stationery and cards, maternity wear, toys, and furniture.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, let us inspire you to buy the perfect gift for the superstar mama in your life!

1. Mamiko

Mamiko is a UK-based, online concept store for organic baby essentials. Created by mum Anna, Mamiko features a beautiful selection of baby clothes, toys and decor with a focus on high quality, natural & organic materials, unique in design, ethical & sustainable production.

“Mamiko’s mission and goal is to show parents that as an adult we have a choice on how we shape our children, how we raise them into growing, caring, conscious beings. We have the ability to educate our children on our environment, whilst also causing as little damage as possible to their future home.”

2. Hotmilk Maternity + Nursing Lingerie

Hotmilk Lingerie provides gorgeous and practical nursing wear. Founder and mum Lisa Ebbing shares her inspiration behind the brand.

“When I was pregnant with my first child, I was shocked to be faced with only an array of basic, old fashioned maternity lingerie. I was pregnant, but I wasn’t ancient! After a lifetime of wearing beautiful lingerie, I wasn’t prepared to give it up and it did nothing for my self confidence as my body shape changed. So, we decided to launch our own fashion conscious maternity lingerie company. It’s such a critical time in a woman’s life, we are so hard on ourselves, I’m so proud that we have been able to add joy to mother’s lives through the colours and styles of our lingerie.”

3. The Mindful Mummies

The Mindful Mummies is not only an accessories brand but also a small business that hosts events and raises money for mental health charities founded by sister-duo Polly and Kate.

Mamma + Mini Sweatshirt £40

“We are Polly and Kate, two sisters who have both been fortunate enough to have become first-time mothers in the last couple of years. To say that parenting is a roller coaster is a bit of a cliché, I know, but it’s also completely true. Up and down, round and round you go, sometimes screaming, sometimes laughing, sometimes just praying you’ll survive it.”

“Through our ‘mindful mummies’ work, our campaign, ‘We Are MAMA’, was born. We believe there is no better way to teach our children than by example and that by practicing our own self care, respect and love, in turn we can raise children with an honest, forgiving and accepting love. We want to support and empower other mums to practice loving and accepting themselves exactly as they are, to be able to raise their children with this shared message and create a generation with greater self-awareness and the freedom to have judgement free thoughts.

4. Little Hoppa

Little Hoppa provides super stylish and multifunctional toys that grow with your baby. The brand was founded by mum Sofie, who shares she could not find a suitable, plastic-free multifunctional toy for her newborn.

Little Hoppa 3-in-1. Offers 3 stages: baby gym, baby bouncer, and children’s activity table. £499

“A tired new Mum with a passion for interiors sat surrounded by plastic baby products that were functional but oh so lacking in style.

A tired new Mum searched high and low for products that were fun for her baby, kinder to the planet AND would complement the contemporary home she had so lovingly designed. A tired new Mum could not find the products she so desperately wanted, and so, whilst feeding her new baby, on a scrap of paper she set about writing a list of all the things that she could only dare to dream existed. And in that moment Little Hoppa was born.”

5. Totter + Tumble

Totter + Tumble provides practical yet stylish flooring and playmats.

Mum and founder Susie shares “Totter + Tumble really started a long time ago when we were soon to be parents with our eldest – Ellie. Anxious to provide the safest home for her, we researched all we could to make sure we had the best products. As babies tend to spend a lot of time on the floor, with us down with them, finding practical protection for our hard floors was an obvious concern.

Fast forward a few years, with an active toddler and a second child on the way, we could not face having to deal with the garish jigsaw puzzle style foam mat any longer. So when faced with reinstating the impractical puzzle pieces in our newly decorated home or risk having a rug, we thought there must be a better solution…. There wasn’t!

From this desire to find practical yet stylish flooring, Totter + Tumble was formed on the following four founding principles: simple, stylish, supportive, safe. ”

9. Scandibørn

Scandibørn is a family run business from the North of England that offers Scandinavian-inspired children’s design, decor, essentials, toys, accessories and more.

“Scandibørn is our dream. It was born from a passion of Scandinavian inspired design. When our little boy, Harry, was born in 2015 we just couldn’t find the clothes, baby furniture and nursery accessories that reflected our passion for this style. So in early 2016 we decided to follow our hearts and Scandibørn was born. We began our hunt for Scandinavian nursery decor and other Nordic inspired baby accessories.”
