Celebrating women across the globe on International Women’s Day 2021

Celebrating women across the globe on International Women’s Day 2021

Here at Mum and You, we’re committed to making lives easier for mums. Whether that’s by helping them make sustainable parenting choices by creating eco-friendly nappies and biodegradable wipes, treating their skin with 60-second face masks or baby bathtime products that you can use with one hand, we’ve got mums covered. That’s why we’re super excited to celebrate International Women’s Day this year!

Celebrated worldwide on March 8th every year since 1975, the United Nations (UN) created International Women’s Day as an official holiday to celebrate women’s contributions to society and to fight for gender equality across the globe.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 – as set by UN Women – is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world”. This year’s IWD theme is set to celebrate the incredible global effort by women and girls in light of the pandemic, with a special focus on frontline workers, caregivers and community organisers. With this too comes the #ChooseToChallenge theme, which highlights the importance of challenging anti-inclusive behaviour.

As a company who have always championed and supported motherhood, International Women’s Day can be a time to recognise the unsustainable and disproportionate increase in domestic violence, unpaid care duties, unemployment, poverty and home-schooling juggling acts that so many women are now unexpectedly facing because of the pandemic.

But, we get it. None of this is new information to mums and, you don’t need to tell us how amazing women can be. This IWD, we’re making sure that not only we celebrate our powerful team of mums and dads who keep the Mum and You ship running, but also our wonderful community of super-human mums who are dealing with so much during a global pandemic. And, to those struggling (which, let’s be honest is 99% of us), know that we see you, and that there is help if you need it.

If you want to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day 2021, read all the stories written by our community of mums on what’s its been like being mum during the pandemic. We’d love to hear your story too, comment below or on any of our posts on Instagram, or tag us using #bymumsformums. It’s really helpful to read other women’s stories and to know you-are-not-alone.

You can also shop the sale with up to 75% off (ends early March 2021) and donate £2 at checkout to help families in need of hygiene essentials.
