Jodie’s story

Jodie’s story

I found out I was pregnant January 2020, when the world wasn’t a crazy place! I also have a 2 year old daughter.

I work as a nurse for NHS. When we first went in to lockdown March 2020, I was so scared/nervous to continue working as a nurse on the frontline when there was little to no information on how corona virus could affect your pregnancy or unborn child. No one could give me clear guidance on whether I should be at work or not but I carried on working until I was 28 weeks. During this time I would go to work but didn’t go to supermarkets, trying my best to reduce risk. It was so difficult to be pregnant, in lockdown and looking after a toddler.

I went to my scans without my husband but luckily he was at the labour through out. Our son was born in September 2020 and he has yet to meet the majority of his family. I feel he has missed out on so much, swimming, baby classes, days out, and his wider family.

Now with 2 babies, this lockdown has hit me even harder, the days are so long and I want to enjoy my maternity leave which I feel I haven’t got the most of. All I can say is, it’s tough, but I am so thankful for my family’s health and can’t say thank you enough to my hard working NHS colleagues, you are the best.

Lots of love to all families through this hard time xxx
